Digital Print and Personalized Printing

Many traditional printers have replaced their traditional printing equipment with digital print equipment by or contracting their printing out to digital print service providers. FingerPrintPics would benefit these digital print service providers greatly by introducing variable data printing to their service list. Variable Data Print (VDP) is the new trend in the printing industry.

Personalized Printing is a commercial prepress process that bridges the gap between digital content online and commercial print production. This process allows a printer, a client, and possibly a graphic designer to create, edit, and approve computer-based online templates during the prepress phase.

Web-to-print in general and personalized printing is targeted toward commercial users or to the general public, and both groups may access public or private online storefronts or template catalogues offered by printers. Within these storefronts, customers can choose pre-designed templates where they can alter the typeface, copy, images, and layout within a template, or approve a template layout and design that has been created by another person in software such as Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Adobe InDesign and Illustrator are used by designers and graphic artists, creating and laying out periodical publications, posters, and print media.

The digital print personalized printing process offers a unique value added experience to the clients of FPP licensees. Personalized printing saves time, money and aggravation for business people across several industries worldwide. The integration of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator allow clients to customize pre-designed templates for clients to upload their own unique content for automated print production. When a digital press is used for the final output, the template usually is transformed into a PDF file that serves as the 'master plate' for the digital press. PDF is a file format created by Adobe systems. PDF is used for representing two-dimensional documents in a manner independent of the application software, hardware, and operating system.

Personalized printing materials produced by a digital print process include business cards and stationery, among other printed matter, that can be printed in color or in black and white.
